Post Office Sales are affecting an important New Deal Legacy as more and more Post offices are being closed and sold.

“President Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal built over 1000 beautiful post offices throughout the United States, many with spectacular murals and sculptures.
Today, however, many New Deal Era Post Post Offices, postal murals and sculptures are in jeopardy due to the announcement by Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe in a press release on July 26, 2011 that due to fiscal challenges, the postal service will be closing, relocating and selling thousands of postal facilities–including our New Deal Era post offices throughout the United States.” Gail Jacobson
